Tide & Time Exhibition

Step into Liverpool's remarkable tidal history at Tide & Time

Don’t miss a rare chance to explore Tide & Time at the National Oceanography Centre in Liverpool.

Tide & Time is home to two extraordinary analogue computers: the Doodson-Légé and Roberts-Légé tide-predicting machines. These pioneering devices were used to calculate tide tables for ports around the world.

Join us for a special Heritage Open Days event and discover more about these fascinating machines and the impact tidal prediction had on Liverpool's growth as a major port city. Discover connections between this work and research taking place at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) today.

This exhibition is not currently open for regular visits, making this a unique opportunity to explore one of Liverpool's hidden scientific treasures. The event is free to attend, but places are limited, and advance booking is essential.

As the saying goes, time and tide wait for no-one. This opportunity shouldn’t either. Book your place below to experience one of Liverpool's most fascinating hidden treasures.
